Nine & Ten speed gearbox future is not far off !





GM and Ford - The two major U.S. auto industry has come to the decision-generation collaborative research to develop new 9-speed gearbox and 10 levels.



According to Autonews, both GM and Ford began to study and design of this gear earlier this year. Every car company in charge of a certain box, GM will develop 9-speed gearbox and Ford will be responsible for developing the 10-speed gearbox.

9-speed Gearbox is dedicated to the Develop front-wheel drive models, while the 10-speed Gearbox is said to be close to the rear wheel drive models including models pickup, SUV and carshigh. The two automakers hope to work together to Develop a new Gearbox will save the cost of research and development of both sides.

Today, these multi-speed gearbox has been the world's leading car manufacturers commonly used. Worldwide, Audi, BMW and Lexus have launched eight-speed gearbox, while in the U.S. only Chrysler 8-speed gearbox equipped cars Chrysler 300 and Dodge Ram
2013.

The increase in numbers brings many benefits, such as more subtle quiet operation, no need to reach large rotation speed to transfer as well as help reduce fuel consumption.

GM 's spokesman confirmed: two manufacturers signed an agreement to work together new multi-speed gearbox, fuel economy. Ford's spokesman has not revealed anything about their plans for the future other than to say that, "We always cooperate with all companies, of course including the GM."
